Parts You Can’t Buy Anymore
A knob snaps off a machine that went out of production six years ago. A bracket cracks and the manufacturer wants you to buy the whole assembly. That’s the work I’m best at — measure the broken piece, model a replacement, print it in a material that holds up. Usually a fraction of what a full replacement costs, and you’re not waiting on a back-order that may never come.
What Else I Make for Businesses
Fixtures, jigs, and shop tooling. One-offs built to your measurements — the kind of thing you’d otherwise fabricate by hand or do without. My background is in drafting, so working from a drawing or a set of dimensions is the normal case, not a special request.
Medical and dental office supplies. Organizers, holders, and small fixtures for practices. There’s a tape dispenser I designed in daily use at a dermatology office here in Birmingham.
Branded pieces and display stands. Logo pieces, counter displays, and giveaway items in small runs — worth doing when you want something specific rather than whatever the promo catalog has.
Bulk and repeat orders. Priced per job, and the per-unit cost drops as quantity goes up. If you need the same part twice a year, I keep the file and the second run is faster and cheaper than the first.
